摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve volume efficiency and prevent generation of fretting of a valve by forming a back pressure chamber communicated with a high pressure fuel discharge passage so as to face a center part of a plate having a fuel discharge port on a casing in a high pressure fuel supply body. SOLUTION: A piston 33 is reciprocated via a cam roller 47 and a tappet 44 by rotation of a camshaft of an engine. When the piston 33 is lowered, pressure is reduced within a fuel pressurizing chamber 32, fuel within a low pressure fuel supply passage 1 of a high pressure fuel pump 60 is made to flow into the fuel pressurizing chamber 32 via a valve 20. When the piston 33 is elevated, fuel within the fuel pressurizing chamber 32 is supplied to a delivery pipe 8 via a fuel discharge passage 4, a high pressure damper 5 and a check valve 6 and is supplied to a fuel injection valve. In this case, a communication hole 63 connected to the fuel discharge passage 4 is formed in a casing 62 in a high pressure fuel supply body 61 of the high pressure fuel pump 60 and is communicated to a back pressure chamber 64 facing a center part of a plate 22 of the valve 20.
