PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet, in which an ink accepting layer suitable for a water-based ink jet recording system is bonded to a polyester film through a primer layer giving an excellent water resistance to the sheet. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording sheet, which is produced by forming a primer layer on at least one surface of a biaxially oriented polyester film so as to laminate an ink accepting layer suitable for a water-based ink jet recording system onto the primer layer, the primer layer includes a polyester resin having a sulfonic group or a sulfonate group. The preferable number X of the sulfonic group or the sulfonate group per 10,000 of the number-average molecular weight of a polyester resin having the sulfonic group or the sulfonate group included in the primer layer satisfies an inequality of 0.4<=X<=5. |
