PURPOSE: A GAX(generator absorber heat exchanger) ammonia absorption cooling/heating system is provided to shorten time required for system to reach a normal state from an initial starting and to solve the problem to restart the stopped system due to an overheating generator. CONSTITUTION: A GAX ammonia absorption cooling/heating system consists of: an automatic reducing valve(16) mounted on a weak solution channel between a generator(1) and a GAX(9) to be closed in initial system running and then to be opened in a normal running state; and an automatic reducing valves(15) mounted on a refrigerant channel between a condenser(2) and an evaporator(3) to be opened completely in the initial system running and to be closed in the normal running state. The reducing valve(16) on the weak solution channel is started with the complete opening degree. A solution pump(12) is started when the solution pump has absorption pressure higher than working pressure. At the same time, the reducing valve on the weak solution channel is opened to a predetermined degree according to an algorithm obtained through system test. The other reducing valve on the refrigerant channel is closed to a predetermined opening degree by the algorithm.
