Production of a lithographic printing plate precursor comprises (a) anodizing an aluminum plate; and (b) coating with a polymer composition, without post-anodic chemical treatment, and drying to give a coating containing pigment and no dye, suitable for imaging. Independent claims are also included for (a) the production of a lithographic printing plate by producing and developing an image on this plate; (b) lithographic printing plates produced in this way.
