PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device by which the output with reference to the input of a small signal in a periodically operated nonlinear system is resolved strictly into a phase modulation component and an amplitude modulation component so as to be displayed. SOLUTION: In this calculation and display device for a phase modulation component and an amplitude modulation component, a means 1 by which, in a nonlinear system which is operated periodically by a periodic signal or a linear time-variant system which is operated periodically by a periodic signal, a frequency decided by the cycle or the frequency of the periodic signal is used as a carrier frequency and by which a component related to the phase modulation of a transfer function up to the output from the input of a small signal is computed or a means 2 by which a component related to an amplitude modulation is computed or both means are provided, and a means 3 by which the phase modulation component or the amplitude modulation component or both are displayed is provided.
