PRODUCTION OF ISOBUTYLENE POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an isobutylene polymer having controlled structure and small dispersion degree and free from unnecessary structure caused by side- reactions in the continuous living cationic polymerization for improving the productivity of an isobutylene polymer. SOLUTION: An isobutylene polymer is produced by living cationic polymerization performed by continuously supplying a cation polymerizable monomer component containing at least isobutylene, a polymerization initiator and a Lewis acid catalyst to a reactor. In the above process, an electron donor is added to the reaction system of the living cationic polymerization at a molar ratio of 0.10-5 based on the Lewis acid catalyst or at a concentration of 6-500 mol/m3.
