PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To communicate picture information file data and a data file by the same transmitting operation by designating a picture information communicating function, transmitting a picture information file, returning to the procedure of an ITU-T recommendation V.8 when the transmission of the picture information file is finished, designating a data communicating function and transmitting the data file. SOLUTION: A group 3 facsimile machine is provided with a function for communicating both of picture information data and optional file data. Optional file data is communicated by a proper communication protocol. A system control part 1 executes a variety of processing such as the control processing of each part of the facsimile machine, facsimile transmission control procedure processing, data communication control procedure processing. A system memory 2 stores a control program to be executed by the control part 1 and a variety of data required for executing a processing program and constitutes the work area of the control part 1.
