A data stream recording/reproducing apparatus for reproducing and outputting a data stream for high-speed reproduction in a short time by a method in which an identification mark for identifying a specific track is superposed on a control pulse in units of tracks, the resultant signal is recorded on a control track, the rotation phase signal of a cylinder is phase-locked with a frequency-division signal of specific phase of the control pulse based on the reproduced identification mark in high-speed reproduction, the magnetic head is driven along a predetermined track in units of tracks. A recording/reproducing method and a recording medium are also disclosed.
