<p>A combination strap lock and pick storage device (10; 10'; 10'; 80) includes a pair of arms (12a, 12b; 12a', 12b'; 12a', 12b'; 82a, 82b) each having a free end and an opposite end forming a ring (14; 14'; 84) defining a passage (16; 86) therethrough. The arms (12a, 12b; 12a', 12b'; 12a', 12b'; 82a, 82b) are biased away from each other such that the passage (16; 86) has a predefined cross-sectional area. The arms (12a, 12b; 12a', 12b'; 12a', 12b'; 82a, 82b) may be forced toward each other to expand the cross-sectional area of the passage (16; 86) sufficiently to thereby allow passage therethrough of an enlarged head (54) of a peg (34) attached to a musical instrument (32; 70). Thereafter, the arms (12a, 12b; 12a', 12b'; 12a', 12b'; 82a, 82b) may be released so that the passage (16; 86) resumes its predefined cross-sectional area and engages a shaft portion (52) of the peg (34), wherein the shaft (52) has a cross-sectional area that is less than that of the enlarged head (54). The device (10; 10'; 10'; 80) thus secures a support strap (36; 172), previously attached to the peg (34), to the musical instrument (32; 70). Each arm (12a, 12b; 12a', 12b'; 12a', 12b'; 82a, 82b) additionally defines a channel (24a, 24b; 24a', 24b'; 24a', 24b'; 94a, 94b) along an inside surface thereof, wherein the opposing channels (24a, 24b; 24a', 24b'; 24a', 24b'; 94a, 94b) are configured to receive a flat pick (38; 38') therein. The device (10; 10'; 10'; 80) is configured such that one or more picks (38; 38') may be easily advanced into, or retrieved from, the channels (24a, 24b; 24a', 24b'; 24a', 24b'; 94a, 94b) defined in each of the arms (12a, 12b; 12a', 12b'; 12a', 12b'; 82a, 82b). The arms (12a', 12b'; 12a', 12b'; 82a, 82b) may further define lobes (68a, 68b) adjacent to the channels (24a', 24b'; 24a', 24b'; 94a, 94b) for guiding picks (38; 38') within, and from, the channels (24a', 24b'; 24a', 24b'; 94a, 94b). In an alternate embodiment, the ring (14; 14'; 84) is replaced with a washer structure (104) for incorporating the resultant pick holding device into an existing strap locking device (150; 200).</p> |
