The safety device has a detent pin (10) which passes freely movable right through a control/operating membrane (15) and a safety membrane (1) mounted above it. The control/operating membrane slidingly surrounds the pin with a membrane plate (16) set in a support sleeve (14) with a tension nut (13). The safety membrane slides loose with slight play on the upper part of the support sleeve (14) with the membrane plate (4) held on an entrainment sleeve (4) by a fastening nut (3) of an expanding ring whereby the support sleeve and entrainment sleeve end underneath a support bearing pin (5). USE/ADVANTAGE - The closing process for the shut-off valve in the gas pipe is triggered when the membrane is damaged.
