Cells; cases and stands.-The cells of a battery are open at the bottom and are assembled in a dry state, electrolyte being introduced into each cell through the open bottom when the battery is required for use. Fig. 1 shows one of the cells which consists of a zinc casing 1 enclosing a dolly 2 which does not reach the lower end of the casing 1 which is open. When electrolyte is poured into the cell it is retained by absorbent material 9. The upper end 4 of the carbon rod is adapted to receive a wander plug. When the cells have been filled they are inserted in holders 6 which are moulded or secured on a base plate 7 on which a cover 8 is secured by clips &c. The cover is provided with openings to receive wander plugs. |
