PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cylinder liner material excellent in corrosion resistance to acid by providing a cylinder bore part with a chemical composition consisting of specific percentages of C, Si, Ni, Cr, Cu, V, and B and Fe as the balance. SOLUTION: A cylinder liner for internal combustion engine is cast from a cylinder liner material in which the chemical composition of a cylinder bore part consists of, by weight, 2.5-3.9% C, 1.5-2.6% Si, 3.0-14.0% Ni, 0.5-2.5% Cr, 0.5-8.0% Cu, 0.5-1.0% V, 0.05-0.10% B, and the balance Fe. A molten cast iron composed of the cylinder liner material is poured into a mold and cooled, and the resultant cylindrical cylinder liner is inserted into the cylinder bore part of a cylinder block formed in a mold by the use of cast iron or aluminum alloy, by which the cylinder of internal combustion engine where the inside peripheral surface of the cylinder liner becomes the cylinder bore surface can be obtained. It is also desirable to form a sprayed deposit composed of a thermal spraying material having a composition identical with that of the cylinder material on the inside peripheral surface of the cylinder bore part.
