PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the cost reduction of a magnetic head and also to easily and correctly execute the positioning of a magnetic head element when it is mounted. SOLUTION: This element is provided with a first part 1u which decides a track width, a second part 1e which has the width wider than that of the first part 1u and which is connected to the upper part of the first part 1u preparing at least one reference part 1f, a third part 1c which is nearly orthogonally connected to the lower part of the first part 1u, and a fourth part 1d which is nearly orthogonally connected to the third part 1c. A magnetic core 1 wherein the nearly U shaped part is formed by the first, third and fourth parts 1u, 1c, 1d, is inverted and opposed, is joined so that at least a part of the first part 1u, a part of the second part 1e and a part of the fourth part 1d are superposed and interposing a gap spacer consisting of non-magnetic material in at least the first part 1u.
