PURPOSE: A portable phone using a remote keypad is provided to separate the keypad from a telephone body for remote use and to use a telephone set without opening a flip or a folder, so that the phone can be minimized. CONSTITUTION: In a telephone body(100), a controller(108) processes voice signals and data for ordinary telephone speech or data communication, and controls each unit of a portable phone. A memory(110) stores programs and reference data for processing and controlling the controller(108), and supplies a working memory of the controller(108). A display unit(112) having an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) displays information according to control of the controller(108). A transceiver(106) transceives RF(Radio Frequency) signals with a base station through a duplexer(104) and an antenna(102). And the transceiver(106) converts received RF signals into digital signals of a baseband to supply the converted signals to the controller(108), and converts digital signals of the baseband supplied from the controller(108) into RF signals for transmission. A connector(114) for external equipments is for connection with a connector(116) of a remote device(118). In the remote device(118), a keypad(120) has function keys and number keys. A display unit(122) is operated by control of the controller(108) to display every kind of information of the portable phone. An ear-phone connection unit(124) is for connection with an ear-phone.
