The present invention consists in a switch actuator to move an air brake switch (124) such as those commonly found in power transmission lines, betwe en an open and closed position wherein the actuator (4) includes a first rotatable member in mechanical connection with and to move said switch (124) between said open and closed position by the rotation of said rotatable member, a second rotatable member in mechanical connection with an actuator such as a linear drive motor (8), a connection member rotatable about the sa me pivot axis as the first and second members, the connection member being bias ed for rotation about the pivot axis in a toggle manner and providing a mechanical connection means to locate (a) against a fixed point of, and be displaced by, said second rotatable means at least during the rotation of th e connection member by the second rotation means towards the point of toggle o f the connection means, and (b) against a fixed point of and to thereby displace, the first rotatable member at least during rotation of said connection member passed said point of toggle.
