The unit has a holder (33) for a head restraint (3) in the top part of a seat backrest. The holder has a pair of downward extending holder shafts (34). A position adjuster to change the head restraint position relative to the backrest is positioned in the backrest. The adjuster contains a drive motor (71), a drive shaft (51) connected to it, a vertically moveable nut component (44) with moveable part (42) on the drive shaft, with guide unit (61), and a stop part (63) to connect the moveable part to the lower end of the shafts.
