PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set a suitable condition without requiring special knowledge and experience in setting a machining condition including an electric machining condition and a jump condition of electric discharge machining. SOLUTION: An electric discharge machine is provided with a machining electrode 15 for machining a work 13, a machining power source 27 for imparting machining energy between poles of the work 13 and the machining electrode 15, a moving means 25 for relatively moving the work 13 and the machining electrode 15, a machining control means 33 for performing feed operation of the machining electrode 15 by the moving means 25, a jump operation control means 35 for performing jump operation by the moving means 25 and a machining condition selecting means 43 for automatically selecting and setting a machining condition including an electric machining condition and a jump condition by designating machining information including items related to a construction material, the machining depth of the work 13 and desired surface roughness of the work 13 to perform electric discharge machining according to the selected and set machining condition.
