PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a transesterification of the subject compound rapidly by transesterification between a specific estersilane compound and a specific alcohol in the presence of a specific metal alcoholate, etc. SOLUTION: The subject compound is subjected to transesterification by transesterification between (A) an estersilane compound of the formula R1nSi(OCH3)4-n[R1 is a primary to tertiary (substituted) 1-12C univalent hydrocarbon; and (n) is 0-3] (e.g. dicyclopentyl dimethoxysilane) and (B) an alcohol of the formula R2OH (R2 is a primary to tertiary 2-10C alkyl) (e.g. ethanol) in the presence of (C) pref. 0.5-5 mol%, based on the component A, of a metal alcoholate of the formula R3OM (R3 is a primary to tertiary 1-8C alkyl; and M is Li, Na or K) (e.g. sodium methoxide) and (D) pref. 0.5-5 mol%, based on the component A, of a polyether compound such as 18-crown-6-ether pref. at 60-100 deg.C normally for 2-10 h.
