PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject cleansing agent capable of readily reaching scalp and pores and effectively removing sebum and stain attached to the scalp and the pores by formulating an anionic surfactant with a polyhydric alcohol. SOLUTION: This aerosol type cleansing agent is obtained by charging (A) an anionic surfactant (e.g. a sulfosuccinic acid-based surfactant, etc.), (B) a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. propylene glycol, etc.), and (C) a compressed gas into a pressure-resistant container and providing the lip part of discharge of the container with a nozzle of reduced diameter. The amount of the component B added is 10-50 wt.% based on the total of the cleansing agent. The cleansing agent is preferably mixed with (D) a low-boiling hydrocarbon (e.g. is pentane, etc.), and (E) an imparter for a feeling of being cold of skin temperature (e.g. dl-menthol, etc.). For example, the amount of the component A is 3-25 wt.%, that of the component C is 0.2-1.2 wt.% and that of the component D is about 1-10 wt.% based on the total of the cleansing agent.
