CHARACTER STRING PREDICTION CONTROL METHOD AND CHARACTER STRING INPUT DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the character input operation of a user by monitoring the input interval time of inputted characters and starting input predicting processing when the input interval time provided from this monitored result exceeds the preset input interval time. SOLUTION: The input intervals of respective handwriting characters are monitored by a time monitoring processing part 2a-d9 and when the input interval time provided as a result of this monitored state exceeds the preset input interval time, a prediction control processing part 2a-d10 starts input predicting processing. That start is inputted to a base character string generating processing part 2a-d11 and a base character string to be used for predicting a character string following the input character string is generated from the character recognition candidate data of respective handwriting characters. That generated base character string is stored in a base character string data buffer 2a-d18. Thus, the character input operation of the user can be reduced.
