PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material having ultrahigh contrast and high definition and excellent in suitability to FM screening by incorporating at least one specified methine compound. SOLUTION: At least one methine compound of formula I, II or the like is incorporated. In the formula I, Z1 is a group of atoms required to form a thiazoline ring, V1 and V2 are each an aliphatic group which may have a substituent or the like, L1 to L4 are each methine, M1 is a counter ion required to neutralize an electric charge and n1 is a number of >=0 required to neutralize electric charges in one molecule. In the formula II, Z11 is a group of atoms required to form a thiazoline ring, V11 and V12 are each an aliphatic group which may have a substituent or the like, at least one of V11 and V12 is an aliphatic group having at least one carboxy or sulfo group or the like, L11 to L14 are each methine, M11 is a counter ion required to neutralize an electric charge and n11 is a number of >=0 required to neutralize electric charges in one molecule.
