The endoprosthesis (1), designed to be implanted through a catheter, is made in one piece from a thin plate of metal shaped by laser electro-erosion or a synthetic material, curved or bendable to form a rectangular, circular or oval central section (2) for covering an aneurism, for example, and a number of lateral supports (4) which can press against the inner walls of a blood vessel to immobilise the prosthesis. The shape and dimensions of the endoprosthesis are selected so that they do not cover the whole of the blood vessel's wall or obstruct collateral blood vessels entering it. The supports can be located along the sides or at the ends of the central section in symmetrical or staggered rows and can lie perpendicular or at an angle to its lengthwise axis.
