Lymphocyte proliferation assay kit comprising an anticoagulant, e.g. sodium citrate or heparin, one or more stimulants, e.g. phytohemagglutinin, protein A and/or nerve growth factor and an antibody with CD69 specificity, is new. an Independent claim is also included for a lymphocyte proliferation assay comprising: (1) stabilizing venous blood by adding the anticoagulant; (2) stimulating lymphocytes by adding the stimulant(s); (3) measuring CD69 presentation before and after step (2) by adding the antibody and measuring antibody binding by fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS); (4) calculating a stimulation index as the ratio of CD69 presentation before and after stimulation; and (5) calculating the ratio of the stimulation indices for helper T cells and B lymphocytes.
