BALLOON FOR BALLOON CATHETER AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon for a balloon catheter efficiently prepared from a polyolefinic resin polymerized by use of a metallocene catalyst. SOLUTION: An extruded tube made of a polyethylenic resin polymerized by use of a metallocene catalyst is irradiated with 40-100 Mrads of electron rays to form a crosslinked tube. Next, the crosslinked tube is exerted with a pressure of 15 kgf/cm2 (first blow pressure) for thirty seconds while being elongated vertically by 170% in a range of about 50 deg.C lower than the melting point of the polyethylene resin; then a pressure of 3 kgf/cm2 (second blow pressure) is maintained for one second and a balloon for a balloon catheter is blow molded.
