PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a washing machine which efficiently removes the contaminants sticking to wash. SOLUTION: A first controller 16 comprises an inertia rotating time detecting means 16a which detects the inertia rotating time of a motor 4 in accordance with the detection quantity from a rotating speed detector 15, a first drive time determining means 16b which determines the drive time of the motor 4 in accordance with the detection quantity from the rotating time detecting means 16a and a first drive means 16c which drives the motor 4 for a prescribed time in accordance with the output from the determining means 16b.
