PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct skewing of a sheet without stopping running of a sheet. SOLUTION: This skew correcting device 70 includes an upstream transport means for clamping both sides of a sheet with a pair of rotors arranged in the direction intersecting the sheet transport direction and transporting the same, and a downstream transport means for clamping both sides of a sheet with a pair of rotors arranged in the direction intersecting the sheet transport direction on the downstream of the upstream transport means and transporting the sheet more slowly than the upstream transport means. Among a pair of paired rotors of the upstream transport means, the sheet transport speed of one pair of rotors 103 is set lower than the sheet transport sped of the other pair of rotors 102, and further among a pair of paired rotors of the downstream transport means, the sheet transport speed of one pair of rotors is set higher than the sheet transport speed of the other pair of rotors 105, and among four rotor pairs, at least one rotor pair can be moved in thrust direction to vary the space between contact parts of the rotor pair of one pair of paired rotors.
