In the preparation of collagen particles (I) from an emulsion having a hydrophilic internal phase containing dissolved or dispersed collage and a lipophilic external phase, (I) are formed without addition of a crosslinking agent to the emulsion or its components. An Independent claim is included for (I), prepared as above, as a carrier for the administration of active agents (A).
