A protective device for a syringe comprising a cylindrical cover enclosing the total length of the needle and a spring situated along the longitudinal axis of the needle, is new. A new protective device for a syringe comprises a boom type cylindrical cover (8) enclosing the total length of a needle (3), having a spring (15) along its longitudinal axis. The spring is abutted by the cover which is retained on a retracted position by a link pin (13). A stopper acts upon the pin to release a cover from a retracted position.
