The separation device (10) handles abrasive material which has at least partially ferromagnet properties. The mixture of abrasive material and abraded particles are separated into abrasive material and abraded particles by a magnetic field. The mixture may be compounded with a fluid for passage through the magnetic field. The magnetic retentivity of the abrasive material particles is selected so that after the passage through the magnetic field they are not influenced by reciprocal attraction.
