<p>An apparatus for relieving arterial blockage comprising a surveying means for surveying the thickness of an arterial wall, an external ablating means for the ablation of the exterior of the arterial wall, and a means for controlling the ablation responsive to a signal from the surveying means, said signal relating to the thickness of the arterial wall. In a preferred embodiment, the surveying means produces a 3D image of the arterial wall, such as ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomographic imaging, and the ablating means is a laser.</p> |
