PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the self-oscillation of when a buffer amplifier is started and to obtain a stable oscillation frequency immediately after its start. SOLUTION: Relating to this crystal oscillator where a buffer amplifier 2 is connected to an oscillation circuit 1 and both of them are driven by the same power supply, the start of the amplifier 2 is made later than that of the circuit 1. Also, an operation voltage of when the amplifier 2 is started is shifted from a reference value, and an output at the amplifier 2 start is set to 0 or 1 level. Furthermore, a start delay circuit 7 is provided between the amplifier 2 and a power supply Vcc.
