PURPOSE: A head mounted display(HMD) is provided, which achieves a compactness and a light weight by making a light proceed toward an eye of a user without a half mirror using a mangin mirror. CONSTITUTION: An LCD panel(101) displays an image played from an image recording medium, and a backlight(102) is arranged on a rear part of the LCD panel and emits a white light toward the LCD panel. And a mangin mirror(103) changes the light including the image through the LCD panel into a parallel light and then images it on the eye of the user. The mangin mirror is formed by combining a reflective mirror and a transmission mirror, and includes a lens(103c) where an incident surface of the surface and a reflective surface of a rear surface(103b) have a curvature. And an anti-reflective coating is formed on an incident part of the mangin mirror, and a reflective coating is formed on the rear surface of the mangin mirror.
