Chipboard or fiberboard is made under heat and pressure on a continuous band press (1) followed by sudden cooling according to DE19919822.5 with the board being cut (21) into discrete lengths after the band press. Sudden cooling is then carried between bands (17, 18) at a maximum pressure of 0.05 N/mm2 till the temperature at the middle of the single sheets reaches 80 to 100 degreesC.
