Provided is a device for filling a syringe barrel (1) and/or for placing a stopper (2) in the syringe barrel (1). The device is provided with a barrel sleeve (3) which is affixed to a collet (4) and can be inserted in axial direction into the lumen of the syringe barrel (1). The syringe barrel (1) is filled and/or the stopper (2) that is carried in its interior is placed through the barrel sleeve. A centering sleeve (5) is arranged coaxially in relation to t he barrel sleeve (3) and is axially movable in relation to it and which, on its end facing the syringe barrel (1), has a conical centering surface for the face of the syringe barrel (1). In starting position, the free end of the centering sleeve (5) projects at least slightly over the end of t he barrel sleeve (3).
