The number of coins contained in a coin tube, the statuses of an empty switch (22) and a coin fullness switch (23), the kind of cassette tube recognized by a cassette sensor (21) are stored in a RAM (13). When the power supply is interrupted and then put on, the statuses of the empty switch (22) and the coin fullness switch (23) and the kind of cassette tube stored in the RAM (13) are compared with the current ones. If any one of them disagree, the number of coins stored in the RAM (13) is initialized.
