<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize low-voltage drive, uniformalization of amperage, prevention of electron beam spread, and extension of life, and to prevent a short circuit between electrodes in manufacturing. SOLUTION: A plurality of strip-like cathode electrode lines 13 are formed on a lower substrate 11. On the cathode electrode lines 13, an insulation layer 14 is formed. On the insulation layer 14, a plurality of strip-like gate electrode lines 15 crossing the cathode electrode lines 13 are formed. At each of cross points of the cathode electrode lines 13 and the gate electrode lines 15, a plurality of fine holes 17 are formed, and each of these cross points corresponds to one pixel of the display. The fine holes 17 reach the cathode electrode lines 13 through the insulation layer 14 and the gate electrode lines 15. In each of the fine holes 17, a metal projection having a trapezoidal cross section is provided and, on top of the projection, an electron emission part is formed out of a carbon film. The insulation layer 14 is formed with a thickness which is one-half of the short diameter of the fine hole 17.</p> |
