METHOD FOR STABILISING ELECTRIC-ARC PROCESSES AND DEVICE FOR REALISING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a method for stabilising electric-arc processes that comprises the following steps: generating from a power supply two initial alternative voltages; transforming them into direct voltages; combining them; and supplying them to the arc gap. The first initial voltage is selected so that after transformation it is equal to the stable combustion voltage of the arc that depends of the electric-arc processing method chosen but not on the current used. The second initial voltage is selected so that after transformation it is equal to the stable ignition and combustion voltage of the arc that depends on the current used but not on chosen the electric-arc processing method. The device of the present invention includes a power transformer (1) with partitioned winding as well as a bridge rectifier on the diodes (2, 3, 4, 5) having its input connected to the secondary winding of the power transformer in order to modify the voltage at the input of the bridge rectifier by switching the sections of the secondary winding. The output of the bridge rectifier is connected through a current regulator to the arc gap. The capacitors (7, 8) are connected in parallel and their common current is connected through a choke coil to one of the sections of the power transformer (1) secondary winding.
