The disc brake has floating brake blocks (8) on either side of a brake disc, which during braking move towards a wedge part (12) in such a way, that the wedge effect does not occur in movement direction of the brake disc (9). The force-transmitting contact between the wedge surfaces (23,24) of blocks and wedge part causes a compression effect on the wedge surfaces, so that a self-boosting additional/compression force is applied to the braking surface (20) of the brake disc.
