PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive pneumatic brake device and its method which enhance the control accuracy and responsiveness of a brake cylinder by directly controlling the brake cylinder pressure, and which can share the function of a slide prevention valve for control of sliding. SOLUTION: This device includes: a brake command means 1 which outputs brake commands; a pneumatic brake control means 4 which commands a pneumatic brake force according to the output of the brake command means 1; a relay valve 6 to which compressed air is supplied from an air reservoir; a brake cylinder 7 which generates a pneumatic brake force by means of the compressed air; and an electropneumatic change valve 5 provided between the relay valve 6 and the brake cylinder 7 and directly controlling the pressure of the compressed air to the brake cylinder 7 according to the output of the pneumatic brake control means 4. |
