PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a frequency of executions for cleaning operation by using a moisturizing liquid. SOLUTION: A moisturizing liquid tank 6 for storing a moisturizing liquid is mounted on a carriage 1. The moisturizing liquid can be dropped from the moisturizing liquid tank 6 in a capping means 7 in response to movement of the carriage 1. As a result, it is possible to effectively suppress the evaporation of an ink solvent at a nozzle opening of a recording head which is in a capping condition, thereby improving reliability in the printing operation.
