PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel capable of improving luminous efficiency. SOLUTION: This plasma display panel is provided with plural row electrode couples X, Y and a dielectric Layer 12 for coating them on a front glass substrate 10, and has: plural column electrodes D arranged on a back glass substrate 14 facing the front glass substrate 10 through a discharge space S in a direction perpendicular to the row electrode couples X, Y and used for defining unit luminescent regions C each centering each intersection with the row electrode couples X, Y; barrier ribs 16 for partitioning the discharge space S for every one of the unit luminescent regions C; and a phosphor layer 17 on the side surfaces of the barrier ribs 16 and the back glass substrate 14. In this case, the plasma display panel is composed by forming band-like transparent intermediate layers 11 on the front glass substrate 10, by arranging a part of the row electrode adjacent to a discharge gap (g) on each of the transparent intermediate layers 11, and by projecting the surface of the dielectric layer 12 on the transparent intermediate layers 11 toward the discharge space S as compared with the other parts thereof.
