PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform correction of light refraction and light control of a thick short-arc discharge lamp in a light emitting portion and to provide a desired outgoing light at high availability, by using a point on a central axis of a recessed reflecting mirror as a vertex, and rotating it about the central axis to provide a reflecting surface. SOLUTION: In a recessed reflecting mirror 2, a paraboloid is translated in parallel by a distance L, a point on a central axis is used as a vertex, and a paraboloid formed by rotating it about the central axis is set reflecting surface shaped. A cylindrical portion 8 is provided at an end of the reverse side of an opening diameter of the reflecting surface of the recessed reflecting mirror 2, and a short-arc discharge lamp 1 is fixed with cement 9. A light emitting portion 3 constructs a light source device by matching a tube axis of the thick short-arc discharge lamp 1 and the central axis of the recessed reflecting mirror 2 which is formed by rotating it about the central axis, using the point on the central axis as the vertex, of the reflecting surface formed by translating a reflecting surface with a short focus in parallel by the distance L. Thus, light of the discharge lamp 1 can be controlled and desired outgoing light is provided.
