The flowmeter has a primary element (2) through which the fluid is made to pass, and in which the differential pressure across a restrictor (2a) acts, via instrument lines (4), on a diaphragm (11) in a diaphragm housing (3). The diaphragm, in turn, acts on a cylindrical measuring element (17) provided with strain gauges (27) connected to a measuring bridge (5), which indicates the flow through the restrictor. The movements of the diaphragm are transmitted, without play, through a diaphragm spindle (8) to a finger (22) arranged at right angles to the spindle. The finger is attached to the lower end (21) of the measuring element, and is free to move in the hollow interior of the element.
