PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device having a damper capable of improving the mountability and suppressing the increase of the cost to a minimum. SOLUTION: A damper stay 13 is provided with an actuator 14 on its cylinder 13a, and put into expanding and contracting motion by the drive of the actuator 14. A trunk door is automatically opened and closed by the expanding/ contracting motion of the damper stay 13. The rotational motion of a motor 19 is converted into the straight expanding/contracting motion of the cylinder 13a of the damper stay 13 through an output shaft of a reduction gear 18 and a rack, and the trunk door is automatically opened and closed. The actuator 14 is arranged so that a rotary shaft of the motor 19 is parallel to the damper stay 13; this means that a rotary shaft 19a of the motor 19 is arranged parallel to the direction of the expanding and contracting motion of the damper stay 13. |
