PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator for a desk which improves beauties, avoids obstructing housing of books, etc., facilitates assembling of a book shelf, allows a user to use a larger area of the top of a desk and can illuminate a wide area by avoiding exposing the strut of the illuminator to the front surface of the bookshelf concerning the illuminator to be used for the desk. SOLUTION: A bookshelf consists of a lower bookshelf 2 and an upper bookshelf 3, which can vertically be separated. The lower end part of an upper book shelf back panel 32 and the upper end part of a lower book shelf back panel 22 are superposed by inserting a clearance 50 for fixing an illuminator in a front/back direction. The illuminator 5 consists of a strut 51 and a lamp 7 provided at the upper end part of the strut 51, which is provided at the position of the clearance 50 in rear of the panel 22.
