PURPOSE: A drive device and a method of PDP are provided to reduce the difference between the brightness of a scan line and a sustain block, thereby improving the brightness uniformity on all display screen and preventing a cross talk. CONSTITUTION: The drive device of PDP comprises a detector(100), an operator(200), a register(300), a timing generator(400), a scan electrode driver(700), a sustain electrode driver(800) and a data electrode driver(600). The detector(100) detects the number of display cells displayed with a corresponding compensation unit from externally applied display data. The operator(200) operates the number of the display cells together a preset brightness correcting factor. The output of the operator(200) is stored in the register(300). The timing generator(400) generates a drive waveform using the number of sustain pulses from the register. The drivers(700,800,600) drive respective electrodes of a PDP(900) by the drive waveform. |
