PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided which is capable of driving a plasma display panel having a reduced number of sustain electrodes with low power and improving the brightness of the panel. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a plasma display panel alternately generates sustain discharge with respect to two scanning lines using two scanning/sustain electrodes adjacent to one common sustain electrode, and includes main sustain discharge and sub-sustain discharge in the sustain discharge. In the event of main sustain, space charges and wall charges caused by weak sub-sustain discharge of the neighboring scanning lines are used to improve the brightness or reduce the voltage of sustain pulse, to enable low-power driving of the plasma display panel. |
