The Otto engine has a compressor and an exhaust turbocharger. The intake side of the compressor is connected to the compressor side of the turbocharger. A re-circulating air valve e.g. throttle valve, with continuously adjustable opening is located between intake side and pressure side of the compressor. The opening is regulated by an electronic control, dependent upon engine performance and engine load. The engine also has a waste gate.
