PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stain-proofing treatment which exhibits high stain- proofing effects to oils or the like on a ceramic product. SOLUTION: The stain-proofing treatment is comprised of applying a coating material containing an aqueous solution of sodium silicate onto the surface of a ceramic product to form an uncured coated layer, then curing the uncured coated layer to obtain a coated layer and thereafter subjecting the surface of the coated layer to de-alkalization treatment by an aqueous solution of ammonium primary phosphate so as to substitute the sodium ions bonded to Si-Oof the coated layer with hydrogen ions.
