Thin protective films for protecting a thin films device are formed on ABS (air bearing surfaces) of a slider, and thin films made of the same material as that of the protective films are formed on the surfaces of the protective films. The thickness delta of each of the thin films can be 10 nm or more, and the ratio of the area of the thin films with respect to the air bearing surfaces can be, for example, 80% or less.
